THE STORY BEHIND EXMOCISE®

Lack of exercise results in physical, mental and emotional immobility. Newborns have 230 million steps, 4 times around the world, to look forward to. For this they need to stay flexible in every aspect. Tomorrow more than today. Something to worry about is the fact that research shows that at present children (and parents) miss this ambition. It was enough motivation for German specialists to develop ExMocise®. A card game that can be played daily and stimulates children’s health.

Bring movement to exercise

ExMocise® are ‘healthy card games’ with which children can obtain or keep a healthy body by stimulating daily movement. The games are an instrument for parents, supervisor, teachers and therapists to help them with this. They help make children aware of their health, their shape and the importance of control over their muscles in a playful manner. The cards are easy to understand thanks to clear photography and bring attention to a specific point within one’s body.

There are currently six games:

The little Breathing game

The little Motorial game

The little Back game

The little Foot game

The Senso Motorial game

The little Bal game

The Goal

The action cards visualise health-exercises and games and leave room for the children to interpret. ExMocise® brings new cognitive experiences for nerves and brains. The exercises stimulate muscle strength in important but less frequently used muscles and stimulate control over one’s body. having control over important functions of their own body will help give them a feeling of self worth and confidence. The long term goal; more exercise, a greater sense of responsibility, more awareness of one’s own health and more confidence.

Our mission

The different ExMocise® games were developed in cooperation with experts in Germany. Over a short period of time the ‘little ball game’ will follow within the ‘exercise series’ WHERE ID = and currently the ‘mental series’ is being developed, which will discuss the topics happiness, ‘anger management’ and resiliency. Our motto is clear: in this age of tablets parents and facilities need to put devote extra time to stimulating exercise and mental awareness at a young age to develop a healthy body and mind.

Application

The games combine gaming pleasure with exercise and practice. Every game has 32 playing cards, on which 8 animals portray 4 exercises. Monster Mo is the game leader. All games can be played alone, with two or in a group. The duration of the game depends on the type of game (10 variants) and the number of deployed cards. The difficulty of the exercises is shows in animal symbols, so the game can be played tied to age and ambition can be stimulated. Cards from different games can be combined.

THE GAMES

1. The little Breathing game

The little breathing game focuses on the improvement of shape, movement and learning to be more aware of breathing. On 32 playing cards 8 animals show 4 exercises. In the game manual different game variants are explained that can be played alone as well as with a group. The game has 4 degrees of difficulty that can be played according to age or ambition. To breathe is to live. A man dies after about 40 dies without food, 5 days without water, but a few minutes without breathing. Breathing is essential for communicating. Our voices are formed through airflow. Breathing is directly related to our physical and mental well-being.

Breathing is influenced by strong emotions: we hold our breath when we are afraid, are out of breath when we are excited, snort in anger, choke because of worry, etc. An evenly and healthy breathing pattern is an important element of our daily lives. Think of the burn-out system with adults or a depression with children, these are closely related to the effect things like school, the need to succeed, the financial stresses of a household, etc. have on our daily lives. The little Breathing game teaches children to train their breathing at a young age and how to control it.

Goal

– train awareness of one’s body

– activate and strengthen one’s oral-motorial muscles

– strengthen one’s respiratory system

-activate and enlarge one’s midriff activity

– teaching of targeted and measured out breathing

– promote social behaviour

– promote lung elasticity

– improvement of the total tension in the body

2. The little Motor system game

The little Motor system game is aimed at improving mobility, coordination and feeling for detail. On 32 playing cards 8 animals show 4 exercises. In the game manual different game variants are explained that can be played alone as well as with a group. The game has 4 degrees of difficulty that can be played according to age or ambition. A lack of motorial capabilities can cause problems at school as well as in one’s daily life. Children and adults with this ailment are more at risk for things such as obesity. This is a direct consequence of less physical activity and a low self-esteem. Performance at school can also suffer severely because of lack of motorial capabilities. The little Motor system game can be used daily to do exercises that help the body to develop important muscle memory. When a movement is repeated over time, long term muscle memory is built up for this task. The training of motorial capabilities can prevent secondary complications, like academic failing or social withdrawal.

Goal

– promotes mobility

– promotes coordination

– trains sensitivity for movement

– promotes a better posture

– promotes social behaviour

– introduces new cognitive experiences for the nerves and the brain

3. The little Back game

The little Back game focuses on preventing abnormalities in one’s posture and training the entire movement-system. On 32 playing cards 8 animals show 4 exercises. In the game manual different game variants are explained that can be played alone as well as with a group. The game has 4 degrees of difficulty that can be played according to age or ambition. Back pains are common with children, especially during adolescence. A few reasons for back pains with young people are: bad posture, unsuited forms of body movement and carrying heavy school bags. Relatively small injuries due to sports and games can lead to muscle spasms, with the result that a few back muscles need to work harder.  This can cause weariness, pain and changes in one’s posture. A child with a painful back can avoid sports activities which leads to a lack of exercise, which will lead to more problems. This is a vicious circle that we need to avoid. Working with the little Back game presents a possible solution. The little Back game can be used daily or weekly to prevent back pains with healthy children.

Goal

– trains the entire mobility system

– strengthens back muscles

– promotes a healthier motorial system

– prevents posture damage

– promotes better posture

– promotes social behaviour

– introduces new cognitive experiences for the nerves and the brain

4. The little Foot game

The little Foot game is foot gymnastics in a box! The game is aimed at improving one’s shape, movement and control of the foot muscles. On 32 playing cards 8 animals show 4 exercises. In the game manual different game variants are explained that can be played alone as well as with a group. The game has 4 degrees of difficulty that can be played according to age or ambition. The growth of the child does not follow a straight and clear path. A lot of children suffer from flat feet, o-legs or bent-knees while growing. A few of these ailments heal by themselves after some time, others can get worse without treatment. On average 20-30% of the population suffers a badly foot curve. Walking on bare feet, like on a beach for instance, which trains muscles, is good for everyone. Flatfoot can lead to leg and lower back pains. The little Foot game is a great help with daily foot exercises.

Goal

– strengthening  of the foot muscles

– training the mobility of the feet

– preventing damage to posture

– promoting a better posture

– promotes social behaviour

– introduces new cognitive experiences for the nerves and the brain

5. The Senso Motorial game

The Senso Motorial game offers exercises that link sensory perception to movements to train coordination and muscle memory. On 32 playing cards 8 animals show 4 exercises. In the game manual different game variants are explained that can be played alone as well as with a group. The game has 4 degrees of difficulty that can be played according to age or ambition. Sensor processing is a neurological process that registers the body’s own position in its environment. In this way it is possible to use the body effectively. One of the earliest perceptions is the olfactory sensation (smell).

Together with sensations such as balance (walking straight), sight, proprioception (body awareness) and taste, we speak of a Multi sensory integration. Hand-eye coordination is an example of sensory integration. A baby picks up objects and puts them in its mouth, or touches them with its feet or face.  All these actions cumulate to forming cards in the brain. Seeing the same things as you feel is an important step for babies at the realisation that they can move their arms and interact with an object. Sensomotorial abilities are the foundation for learning. The Senso Motorial game is a great help to promote daily exercises in the area.

Goal

– linking sensory perceptions, nerves and movement

– promoting perception of the body

– promoting body coordination

– promoting body movement in the available space

– promoting self confidence

– promotes social behaviour
